A positive change to how your Wegovy® medication will be delivered from Bolt Pharmacy, starting this week April 27, 2026.
Following a recent update approved by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) on 23 April, Wegovy® is now the first GLP-1 weight management medication in the UK approved for ambient (room temperature) shipping for up to 48 hours.
This means your Wegovy® deliveries will no longer arrive packed with ice packs or bulky insulated packaging.
What This Means for You
1. No More Ice Packs
Because the MHRA has confirmed that Wegovy® remains completely stable and safe at temperatures below 30°C for up to 48 hours during transit, we no longer need to use ice packs for the final leg of delivery to your door. You do not need to worry if your package arrives at room temperature—this is now the approved and expected standard.
2. Faster, Greener Deliveries
Removing the need for heavy ice packs and thick insulation means your packages will be smaller, lighter, and much more environmentally friendly. It also allows our pharmacy team to process and dispatch your orders more efficiently.
3. Your Storage Instructions Remain Exactly the Same
While the delivery method has changed, how you store your medication at home has not changed.
Before First Use: You should still store your unused Wegovy® pens in the refrigerator (between 2°C and 8°C).
After First Use: You can keep the pen you are currently using either in the refrigerator or at room temperature (below 30°C) for up to 42 days.
How We Ensure Your Medication is Safe
We want to reassure you that our strict clinical standards remain in place.
Cold Storage at Our Pharmacy: We still receive all Wegovy® directly from the manufacturer under strict cold-chain conditions. It is stored in our commercial medical refrigerators at 2°C to 8°C right up until the moment it is packed for your delivery.
Mounjaro® Patients: Please note that this MHRA approval currently applies only to Wegovy®. If you are prescribed Mounjaro®, your medication will continue to arrive with ice packs and insulated packaging as before.
